About ALPFA
The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) is the proud successor of the American Association of Hispanic Certified Public Accountants (AAHCPA), the first national Latino professional association in the United States. Established in 1972, ALPFA continues to build upon our proud legacy of shared values and guiding principles. ALPFA is a not-for-profit entity registered with the Internal Revenue Service. Membership is open to anyone who shares our values, mission, and principles. The Association changed its name to ALPFA to diversify the membership from a strictly Certified Public Accountants association. ALPFA also changed its bylaws to become an international association; this change meets the needs of our many clients/sponsors. It also allows us the benefit to capitalize on our bicultural and bilingual skills. With over 34 years of history, ALPFA is recognized as a strong advocate for the advancement of Latinos. ALPFA is committed to providing professional development opportunities to its members, as well as creating awareness among our youth about the accounting and finance professions. ALPFA has partnerships with State CPA Societies to provide professional development opportunities to its members at the Annual Convention, seminars and quarterly dinner meetings. Participation in these events provide our membership with continuing professional education (CPE) credits and an opportunity to network. ALPFA also recognizes the financial challenges faced by Latinos to fund their undergraduate studies.
