Corporate Partners Benefits

ALPFA New Jersey has a significant membership base and quality programs to help companies identify high-quality Latino candidates for employment. We provide career development opportunities, such as continuing professional education courses and leadership training.  We provide our members with opportunities to develop or enhance their leadership, relationship management, public speaking, and team building skills, and, at the same time, to give back to the community and serve as a mentor to young professionals and students.  Many of our corporate partners participate in the development and implementation of these programs, giving them continued and positive exposure to our members.  ALPFA relationships also help identify new clients and customers in growing Latino markets.  We also offer students scholarships and community service activities, which promote a positive representation of our corporate partners in the Latino community.

ALPFA is committed to working with our corporate partners to capitalize on the tremendous opportunities presented by Latino markets. The growth of the Latino population in the United States is having an impact on society and businesses in America. The Latino population of over 39.9 million accounts for nearly 13% of the U.S. population with a growth rate of 57.9% since 1990; this population’s median age is roughly 35.   This young, growing group also has significant economic power.  From 2000 – 2010 Latino purchasing power is estimated to grow at an annual compound rate of 12.18% - which is 50% greater than the rest of the U.S. population.  According to the Selig Center at the University of Georgia, New Jersey Latinos had $28.4 billion in purchasing power during 2005 and are expected to have $41 billion in purchasing power by 2010.  Nationally, Latinos are expected to enjoy $736 billion in purchasing power during 2005.  These demographics demonstrate the opportunity and necessity of ALPFA’s goals and mission in our environment.

These dramatic demographic shifts present significant challenges and opportunities for businesses in terms of workforce, customers, and suppliers. Many businesses have found that it is crucial to maintain strong relationships within the Latino community as the demographic portrait of America evolves. ALPFA provides a strategic link to the emergent Latino population - whose affluence rose 247.17% from 1990 – 2005.
