Student Board Members - Rutgers Newark
Ramon Rodriguez, Student Chapter President Ramon Rodriguez is currently a junior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ studying finance and sociology. Ramon is very active in the Rutgers community. Since his freshman year in college, he has been part of the Student Government, serving as Chairman of Public Relations during his freshman year and Director of Management and Budget during his sophomore year. Ramon has been recognized as one of the top student leaders at the Rutgers Newark community and the state of New Jersey by being selected for the prestigious College Leadership NJ program. Ramon founded the Latino Student Caucus and will serve as the Chairman for the 2007-2008 academic school year. In the fall of 2007 Ramon served as the Director of Events for the Students of ALPFA. He has been awarded numerous internal and external scholarships during his three years at Rutgers. His most recent scholarship was the ALPFA/Ernst & Young scholarship for the 2007-2008 academic school year. Ramon has also performed community service on campus for the EOF Babyland toy drive and CHCI Scholarship Out Reach Program (Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute) and off campus participating in the Breast Cancer Walk and volunteering at the local homeless shelters in Newark. Last summer, Ramon received an internship opportunity with Sherwin Williams.Luis Martinez, Student Chapter Vice President
Luis Martinez is currently a junior at Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ and majoring in Finance. Luis has taken many leadership roles throughout his academic years. He has served as freshman senator of the NCAS SGA and became chairman of the diversity committee. He is currently the president of EOF PRIDE and a member of the Latino Student Caucus. In addition, he is the newly elected Vice President for the ALPFA student chapter.Luisa Ramirez, Student Chapter Treasurer Luisa Ramirez is currently a senior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ. Throughout her academic career, Luisa has demonstrated her ability to maintain a work-life balance while still being active on campus, working full time for a small accounting firm, and maintaining good academic standing. Luisa was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma in the fall of 2006. Luisa later joined ALPFA during the Fall of 2006 and began attending all of the board meetings and became very involved with the organization. During the summer of 2007, Luisa interned at PricewaterhouseCoopers, was sponsored to attend the 2007 ALPFA Convention in Orlando, and participated in the KPMG ALPFA case competition. Luisa will be graduating in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and will begin her career as an Assurance Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers in their New Jersey Office.Tania Cintron, Student Chapter Secretary Tania Cintron is currently a sophomore at Rutgers Business School and Newark, NJ, and a student of the Honors College, with a major in Business Management. Tania has been involved in L.U.N.A, (Latinos United Networking America), a student organization, since freshman year, as the multicultural Advisor, and is currently the Treasurer as well. She hopes to network during her first year in ALPFA as well as make bonds that will allow her to succeed in the future with her business endeavors.
Reyna Moreno, Secretary Reyna Moreno is currently a senior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ. She will be graduating in May 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance. After joining ALPFA in the Fall of 2006, Reyna immediately saw the benefits that the organization provides. After networking with several business professionals, Reyna was encouraged to serve on the ALPFA Rutgers Newark Student board. During the summer of 2007, Reyna also participated in KPMG/ALPFA case competition in Orlando, Florida. In Fall 2007, Reyna has accepted an offer from Rothstein Kass. Christina M. Ruiz, Director of Events Christina Ruiz is currently a junior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in May of 2009 with a major in Marketing and a minor in Psychology. Previously, she served as president of the Marketing and Management Society for the academic year 2006-2007. In addition to her leadership roles and maintaining a great academic record, she currently works as a marketing intern with the Rutgers Career Development Center. She has also worked as an intern for both the Star Ledger and the New Jersey Historical Society. Upon graduation, Christina plans to pursue a post-graduate degree in Marketing and secure a full-time position that will challenge her marketing skills and knowledge obtained from study and experience while also broadening overall exposure to the field.Joel Paulino, Director of Community Affairs Joel Paulino is currently a senior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ and majoring in Economics. While pursuing a BA in Economics, Joel has interned at Mendonca & Suarez LLC, a medium sized accounting firm and Ernst & Young LLP, a large public accounting firm. Upon graduation in August of 2009, Joel intends on pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Professional Accounting.Ariane C. Villanueva, Deputy Chair of Community Affairs Ariane C. Villanueva is a junior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ. She will be graduating in May 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Her endeavors include contributing as one of the five University Senators representing the Rutgers Newark University in the Student Government. During this past semester she successfully developed and delivered a presentation for the PricewaterhouseCooper's xACT competition. Aside from academics, she is an active member in her community by devoting her free-time to volunteering and helping others. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed as she has been asked to take part in the International Student Volunteers, an exclusive organization; in which she teaches English to children, builds community homes & facilities, and assists with regional medical projects. In addition, Ariane remains involved by volunteering with VITA, a program designed to help low-income families with tax preparations.Juliana Stephan, Director of Member Relations Juliana Stephan is currently a sophomore at Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ and will graduate in May 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. Juliana joined ALPFA to be more involved in the Rutgers community and to network and broaden her personal and professional capabilities. After graduating in May 2009, Juliana plans to obtain her Masters in Finance.Carlo Ferolino, Director of Communications Carlo Ferolino is currently a senior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ and will be graduating in 2008 with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. Carlo joined ALPFA because he saw it as an opportunity to expand his social and professional network. In addition, he felt ALPFA would help prepare him for a career in the accounting profession. Carlo will be taking on the responsibility of making the organization’s presence known amongst the collegiate and professional community.
Baris Sonmez, Director of Student Affairs
Baris Sonmez is currently a senior at the Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ and will graduate in fall of 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Beyond academics, Baris took on leadership roles that included being vice-president of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honors society that procured funds to help communities in need. In additional, he was a tennis tutor for various communities in northern New Jersey. Baris joined ALPFA because of the great opportunities that were made available to him by the organization.
